So I’ve decided to take part in Blapril, which is like Blaugust, in which a load of cool people band together and write every day for a month, except it’s in April instead of August. It’s a cool idea too, especially as in this time of STAY IN YOUR GODDAMN HOMES a sense of community and social interaction is very much needed, else we go stir crazy!
So yes, I’m gonna take my “I should blog more” rhetoric and actually BLOG MORE this month. How exciting for you!
NINTENDO SWITCH LITE x2
In fairness, we did also do some actual shopping, it’s not like we went out specifically to get these (though if we didn’t, we would have gone to the local shop and not to the place I work). We got the ingredients for a lovely beef curry for instance, and we’re having meatball marinara today!
But yes, Switches. Much excite! I also got Pokemon Sword, and I’ve been playing though both (just opened the museum and got my third villager in AC, just got the Grass Badge in PS), it’s a fantastic little handheld. Clear screen, crisp sound, Animal Crossing is on it…

So my team so far is motivated by “what looks cool” rather than “what is balanced and effective” which is why a Darmanitan would probably roll through at least 4 of the 6 here. I’m also at least trying to get natures for my team that aren’t detrimental to their main attacking stat, hence why I have like 4 Panchams in a box that all have ATK-reducing natures. I managed to get an Eevee with Rash (+SP.ATK, -SP.DEF) so I’m currently searching every nook and cranny for an Ice Stone.
And speaking of nooks and crannies…
ANIMAL CROSSING
Oh my GOD do I love this game! It’s so relaxing, and as someone classed as a “key worker” by the government in this crisis era, I’m working in a fairly stressful retail environment, so having AC to come back and relax to is genuinely doing wonders for my mental health.
I was worried before it released that my favourite character, Blathers, wouldn’t be in it, as both he and the museum had not appeared in any trailers, Directs, promotional art or anything like that until a week before the game came out!
But he’s here and he’s the same adorable nerd he ever was and I don’t know why I ever doubted he’d be there! He and Tom Nook are my saviours in this trying time!
OTHER STUFF?
- I’ve got a week off now, because it’s my 34th birthday on Friday! Not that I can indulge in my beloved birthday tradition of exploring Bristol or Swansea before having a massive all-you-can-eat meal, but I can always do that when restaurants are open again. We’ve set a… well, not a date, as it’s all up in the air, but we’ve promised ourselves we will!
- Because I’ve been starting work at 4am, it entails going to bed at 8 or 9pm, so I’ve barely touched World of Warcraft recently, certainly not to raid anyway. I miss it dearly, but I’ll be able to this week, ’cause week off and all that jazz.
- Football Manager is still on heavy rotation, as is the song Think About Things by Daði Freyr.
- I’m gonna have to watch Tiger King, aren’t I? I keep seeing everyone talk about it, and I can only assume it’s not about Sagat from Street Fighter.
- Oh! Speaking of Street Fighter, E. Honda is rapidly becoming my second most played-as character. There’s something about him in V that makes me hate him WAY less than I did in IV, and it’s possibly 100% definitely maybe this outfit:
- Just give him a tattoo and he could be a yakuza thug, it’s fantastic!
