Demonology was blowing every spec out of the water recently, and the developers decided to tone it down. Shall we see how so?
Demonology
- Corruption: Damage reduced by 10%
- Shadow Bolt: Damage reduced by 10%
- Chaos Wave: Damage reduced by 20%
- Doom: Damage reduced by 20%
- Hand of Gul’dan: Damage reduced by 20%
- Soul Fire: Damage reduced by 20%
- Touch of Chaos: Damage reduced by 20%
According to rumours I don’t want to listen to, Affliction may also see a nerf at some point, most likely to Agony and Unstable Affliction.
Whether these number changes bring Demonology back in line with the rest of the pack or place it back into the toilet where it languished a while back remains to be seen. On the face of it, seeing a 20% nerf to Metamorphosis abilities and a 10% nerf to Caster ones look really harsh, but remember 20% of these much lower squished numbers is a lot less than a 20% nerf pre-squish. I suppose I’m saying let’s see things in action first before we start throwing bricks at Celestalon.
- Demonbolt: Damage reduced by 30%
Well, we all saw that nerf coming, didn’t we? This makes the optimum number of Demonbolts you want to cast 3, and then pump the rest of your Fury into Soul Fire before your Dark Soul runs out.

Plans Going Forward
Recently, I posted a loot guide to Upper Blackrock Spire for us Warlocks, and the amount of hits it received over the last few days is phenomenal. Evidently, lists such as these are in extremely high demand! At some point before Warlords is released, I will post a second loot guide. This will be a guide to what loot you can expect to find in Heroic dungeons and what the best items for your spec will be. You people seem to want this, and I am all too happy to give it to you!
Not only that, but I will be creating new Warlock Spec 101 guides for level 100, this time actually featuring Demonology! While we haven’t had any extensive changes, I still want to start from scratch rather than use the old guides as a base.
In Other (Warlocky) News
Firelands and Dragon Soul (up until Spine of Deathwing of course) are humourously faceroll even on Heroic, so go forth and grind those transmogs and mounts!
Falling into the “Easy, But Don’t Be Careless” category are the Lich King 25 Heroic, and Yogg Saron 25 with 0 keepers.
Probably the most difficult boss to solo pre-Mists now is the Karazhan chess event!
